For International Women’s Day in 2021, Cynthia (marine eyes) shared a playlist of songs she loved from women who make ambient music. When she would mention to someone that she made ambient music, people would often comment that ambient is primarily made by males and she deeply knew that was far from the truth. The mix series was born as a way to show how many amazing women and gender expansive artists are making and five years later, she is still discovering new artists and sharing seasonal selections of songs via her newsletter.
In 2026, cloud collecting expanded into a label beginning with the compilation gentles voices, vol. 1 (co-curated with Anita Tatlow of the label Echoes Blue) featuring 20 women artists from around the world. The cloud collecting label mission is to highlight women and gender expansive artists, centered in the belief that music can heal and help us feel both lost and found.
